Seat cut and heal cut. Nice job.
Why 3 and a half inches?
Top plate 2x4 width of that board is 3 1/2 so it covers it
Nice set up! Could you do a quick update? How has it holding up up after a couple of years? Any take aways? I am planing to do something similar soon
Thank you so much for this video! So much inspiration and ideas! I love how you used some scrap wood to create the slots for the fence boards to create an easily removable “door”. Another video I watched did some super complicated cut with a very expensive tabletop saw on a 4x4 post 😳 If you want to go SUPER overboard with your compost bins you could add some hinged lids and wrap around the sides and back of your compost bin with chicken wire or hardware cloth. LoL 😂 I have kids and a pack of coyotes that frequent our yard, and soon we will have dogs too, so I’m wondering how your bins have held up so far??? Would you consider making a short update video???
Fwiw on pump brand at the property I live at we have 2 Honda pumps, a Northstar pump and 2 harbor freight pumps and have had as many or more issues with the Hondas than the cheaper ones. They all get used more or less equally. It feels nice to know there are a few Hondas but as far as what we've seen the reliability is fairly consistent across brands. We also use FH thread instead of camlock and then carry adapters if we need to hook up to a camlock supply. Not sure exactly why, but it's what they had in place when I moved here and the whole setup saw a lot of very successful use in the 2020 lightening fires. Our tanks are located at high points with outlets on the tanks and are all plumbed downhill with underground 3" pvc and steel risers to hook into near the major structures.
simple, direct, no over the top tools that were given to him that most would not buy. This is the way to teach everyday people.
Creating a bird's mouth and installing purlins are critical steps in constructing a roof, ensuring structural integrity and proper support for roofing materials.
The best I've seen
This is by far the best video Ive seen on building a lean to coop.
The problem with renting an auger, is most of the time, at least the ones I rented, is that they have a dull blade, and can’t drill more than a couple of inches. And the ones I went to, don’t have a new blade that they can put on for you. I finally went to a brand new rental place, they had a brand new auger with a brand new blade. It drilled the holes like butter. I went back a month later to rent the same auger, and it had a dull blade, and couldn’t drill more than a couple of inches, and they didn’t have a replacement blade to put on the auger. So unless you get an auger with a sharp blade, it’s a waste of time and money renting an auger.
Great video. I barely remember when my daughter was that tiny. So cute
Methyl Bromide is a fumigation used to treat many different things including grains, cereals, nuts, and fruits. It is a gas and does not leave any residue on the items treated. Pallets treated with Methyl Bromide will not be toxic to the compost.
That is absolutely awesome!
what's the tune at 6:25?
Are you going to do anything to protect the pallet wood? We were using old pallets as fencing to stop sheep escaping and in about 2-3 years they just completely broke down and fell apart (in Ireland).
How did you fasten to rafters to the top?
Great video. Nice build. No bs. Thank you
Thank you, Joe. I have built the human entry door for the coop and just needed a very simple frame with limited wood. Tight budget. Your video puts me back on track. Thanks again.
nice rig, well thought out...i like the suitcase idea too.
Very Nice . Couple of questions. Don't you need a lid? Also, do you need a chicken wire lining to keep rodents out?
Was that makita a 7 1/4 saw? or the 6 1/4(or whatever it is) smaller one? I need to buy a new circ saw and im pretty sure i can get away with the one thats a little bit smaller than 7 1/4. ( i dont cut much 4x4 or 6x6) . So i think the smaller blade will do just fine for mostly 2 x material. Thanks man.
Meanwhile drill a hole while the axe moves but you’ve got a vice right there??
👍💯⚠️
I was building a coop also and you helped me a lot to put the roof on. Thanks!
by code the notch on that rafter where it sits on shall be no less than 3 1/2" thick after the notch peak.
Joe. Buddy, thank you for the videos!! I've learned so much.
Those look very nice!
Thanks for the video, but why 3 1/2 inch? is it because the width of 2x4?
im confused on how you sealed the egg laying box's. do you mind giving some details behind that?
Wonderful design, I look foward to making my compost bin. Thanks for this tutorial.
So my set up is nearly identical. However for the front slats I permanently attached the two lowest ones. They help keep the whole rig stable and I never ever need to remove those bottom ones. Just thought I'd share.
Heat up the metal to form against the handle Yo! Duhh
Imagine only having a 2" ballcock 😂 jk bro looks great just got myself a 350g tank for watering my gardens in the backyard. Goodluck!
Think someone is stealing your videos ua-cam.com/video/ZCyFalhqKrw/v-deo.htmlsi=U4OEEl3YmChGTC7W
If you have a very big yard they're OK, just never have them next to your house!
Hi, if I wanted more overhang on the sides would i just cut my purlins longer?
Looks great !!
Absolutely most logical, clear and concise instructions on a practical way of going about laying out a lean to roof.
love it
The same method is used for finding Lay Lines.
Great tutorial!! Looks like a solid compost station. 👊
Perfect bland of functional, study and still somewhat aesthetic. Gonna go for this one here. Thank you for the inpiration!
Anyone know how deep you can go with this auger ? Is there a second section you could attach ?? I filled in my backyard, improperly, and now since I want to build on a small part, the town wants me to do a soil test which was over 3K to dig two holes ?? Town said if I could hit undistrurbed soil, I could put peirs on that.....we have a layer of sandstone. Maybe I should just go out there after it stops raining and start digging ?
That's the finest design and construction of pallet-style compost bins I've ever seen. I'm looking for something with less 'manual-turning labour' so I'm going to the barrel style with paddles inside that can be rolled to mix, more often. But I bet this setup works like a charm! (Your little girl is a treasure!)
to rent a tow behind teeter totter digger is cheap and will do big holes.!...the last choice for me would be 400bux a day for this setup!!!.the teeter totter one is hydraulic with a gas motor to run it
Was planning to build one as that but hated to calculate where to fix the birds mouth. You made it so simple without math. Thanks. Top teacher.
Awesome job
I wish you had been able to include the trimming and angle of your girders and band joists 😢
how do you access the ready-made compost?
My biggest suggestion is make your bins wide enough to scoop out with your bucket on your tractor. If you have a 5 ft bucket make 6 ft wide bins. And such. Then you can scoop out the compost when it’s done to move without shovels. And if you need you can toss the compost easily with tractor. I made my first been like he did which sucked since I bought a tractor a year latter. Since then I made a new compost bins much larger.
